Learn About the Art, Culture, and Traditions of Africa at This Special Festival
In its continued effort to promote the art, culture and traditions of Africa, the Afrikan Djeli Cultural Institute is pleased to present the Atlanta African Dance & Drum Festival, which features a diverse range of music and movement workshops, an African inspired craft market, food vendors, Kid’s Camp and finale concert.
The premiere festival features some of African dances most sought-after instructors, teaching an engaging lineup of dances from West Africa, Cuba, North Africa and more. Some of the artists teaching include Youssouf Koumbassa (Guinea), Djeneba Sako (Mali), Malang Bayo (Senegambia) and Babacar Mbaye (Senegambia).
One of the main highlights of the weekend is our Festival Concert, which takes place at 8 p.m. on Saturday, July 28. Afriky Lolo will perform one of its signature pieces, The Goddess Zaouli. Also performing is Atlanta's own Djeliba Drum Ensemble & Friends.
This concert, with live African Drumming and percussion, will be a very high energy performance, which will be exciting for the whole family. We hope that you join us for this incredible festival!
